About FYFAB: Empowering the next generation

Growing up in Iowa, my mother worked within the elementary school system and tutored many low-income children to read after school. Her dedication inspired me deeply. Later, as an elementary teacher's aide, I found the same passion and drive. There's immense joy in seeing the happiness on a child's face when they read their first word. I believe addiction often starts with a lack of fundamental skills, like reading; it's easier to recognize a symbol on a liquor bottle than to complete a job application. This belief fuels FYFAB’s mission to provide foundational education and support.

What makes FYFAB's approach unique is our focus on mentoring young people at an early age. We don't just teach skills; we empower them with knowledge about behaviors that can lead to various forms of addiction. By identifying and addressing these patterns early, we provide a proactive and preventive pathway to a healthier future. Our comprehensive curriculum includes reading, comprehension, basic math, financial literacy, hygiene, meal prep, mock job interviews, how to dress for interviews, email etiquette, and grammar, delivered both virtually and in-person.
